Prize for Excellence in International Business Case Writing awarded to Ulrike Mayrhofer and Noémie Dominguez

Ulrike Mayrhofer (IAE Nice, Université Côte d'Azur) and Noémie Dominguez (IAE LYON) School of Management, Jean Moulin University) received the Prize for Excellence in International Business Case Writing. Created by the University of Cambridge, the University of Kent and Professor Michael Czinkota, this prize aims to promote excellence in case writing in the field of international business.


The selected case study “Mixel Agitators, a French SME expanding into China” focuses on the success and difficulties faced by an industrial SME following the establishment of a subsidiary in China. It will be published in the upcoming book “International Business”, 9th edition, Cambridge University Press.

This distinction also rewards the collaborative projects developed by the two professors with the French company Mixel Agitateurs. The case study was conducted at the Chair on "SME Internationalization", which is supported by the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region under the program "Support for International Academic and Scientific Cooperation". The work led to the publication of a collective book: Dominguez, N. & Mayrhofer, U. (2018), Key success factors of SME internationalization: A cross-country perspective, Emerald.

Ulrike Mayrhofer is Professor of International Business at IAE Nice Graduate School of Management, Université Côte d’Azur, where she is the Program Director of the Executive MBA (Master of Business Administration) and co-responsible for the “Digital Marketing & International Business” team of the GRM-lab (Groupe de Recherche en Management). Her teaching and research interests concern international and intercultural management, corporate strategy and marketing. She has published several books, and numerous case studies and journal articles.

Noémie Dominguez is Associate Professor at iaelyon School of Management, where she teaches international management, business environment and strategic management. She is responsible for the Master 1 International Business Realities (EPAS accredited) and a member of the Magellan Research Center. Her work focuses on the internationalization of SMEs and networks, and has been published in books and articles in national and international journals.
